Year 4 Instrumental Music Program
All students in Year 4 participate in the Instrumental Music Program, where students are provided with the opportunity to learn to read music, play an instrument, and experience performing in an ensemble.
Instrument allocation is organised by the Head of Performance & Instrumental Music based on the results from the Selmer Musical Aptitude Test (a test measuring pitch recognition, melodic memory, and rhythmic discrimination), the student’s physical characteristics, and academic ability.
Student preferences will be taken into consideration, and every effort is made to provide them with their preferred instrument; however, this will not always be the case.
Instruments offered include:
- Clarinet
- Flute
- French Horn
- Saxophone
- Percussion
- Tuba
- Trombone
- Trumpet
The Year 4 Instrumental Program tuition occurs during normal classroom time in the Abbenbroek Building.

The Nambour Christian College Performance and Instrumental Music Program is a performance-based program that engages the student in learning an instrument or voice from Prep to Year 12. This program seeks to provide students with outstanding opportunities to grow in their musicality and confidence, as well as the fundamental aim of the college to grow each student’s character.
